death of poetry/red dragonfly
Dragonfly symbolism: "The Dragonfly’s scurrying flight across water represents an act of going beyond what’s on the surface and looking into the deeper implications and aspects of life."
...reflect in the eternal waters, or the eternal quiet of the deep waters, poetry can possibly come alive. . .#selftalk

"Each moment is fragile and fleeting. The moment of the past cannot be kept, however beautiful. The moment of the present cannot be held, however enjoyable. The moment of the future cannot be caught, however desirable. But the mind is desperate to fix the river in place: Possessed by ideas of the past, preoccupied with images of the future, it overlooks the plain truth of the moment. The one who can dissolve her mind will suddenly discover the Tao at her feet, and clarity at hand." ~ Hua hu Ching: The Unknown Teachings of Lao Tzu

- "Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
- "That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
- "I don't much care where –" said Alice.
- "Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the Cat.
- "– so long as I get somewhere," Alice added as an explanation.
- "Oh, you're sure to do that," said the Cat, "if you only walk long enough."

Photo Quote - Anton Chekov
"In my opinion it is not the writer's job to solve such problems as God, pessimism, etc; his job is merely to record who, under what conditions, said or thought what about God or pessimism. The artist is not meant to be a judge of his characters and what they say; his only job is to be an impartial witness. I heard two Russians in a muddled conversation about pessimism, a conversation that solved nothing; all I am bound to do is reproduce that conversation exactly as I heard it. Drawing conclusions is up to the jury, that is, the readers. My only job is to be talented, that is, to know how to distinguish important testimony from unimportant, to place my characters in the proper light and speak their language. " — Anton Chekhov

Autumn tree
'every leaf speaks bliss to me
fluttering from the autumn tree'
her words echo from years ago
this tree growing new leaves
as if, in an eternal spring
teaching me lessons
in belongingness?
or on the vitality of life?
as always, the bird within
lifts its wings, smiling
to the sky within

fluttering from the autumn tree' ~ Emily Brontë

for the sake of exactness of things in nature, that is last Friday's moonset . . .and not exactly moonset, a 6.30 am moon.

autumn clouds
Cyclone Hudhud - reportedly named after a colourful bird - seems to have assumed a 't' on to itself and is thud thud-ing its way to strike the shores of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh - nearly a year after Cyclone Phailin. Hope they are adequately braced and the storms leave little damage behind.

autumn sun
Blame my blackberry camera and me for the poor quality of the picture, for failing to capture the glory of today's sunrise.

Returning to the source
Returning to the source
“Returning to the source
is stillness,”
Lao Tsu whispers from across the ages,
from across the mountains
pulling me back into the zone
of silence and light
is stillness,”
Lao Tsu whispers from across the ages,
from across the mountains
pulling me back into the zone
of silence and light
words clamour for a while
within, seeking the end
until i spoil a white
page...
within, seeking the end
until i spoil a white
page...
then all returns
to a stillness
to a stillness
and the sky expands
within
within
"Returning to the source is stillness,” Lao Tsu whispers from across the mountains
or ages - read something like that in a news-feed yesterday - don't remember who posted.
...and that is where this one originated.

A little too early to call it autumn, but that's a mood I guess - a prevalent mood in these years of life...of course, there is a slight chill in the morning air...

Left blooming alone;
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone."

overcast
We have a rooster and his team, somewhere in the fields across....who can't stop his call until the sun is on his head. The co-co-ro-co reconnects me instantly to my childhood, and our own villages...so i love it, but today with the overcast sky, he seems to have gone back to sleep sooner . . .

flying kites
On Independence Day (August 15) and until a few days after, it's kind of a historical ritual to fly kites high in the sky as an expression of freedom and happiness...
playing out
more string to the wind ~
the August sky reverberating
with the laughter of children
flying kites
....and this another August sky...the birds...ever and forever celebrating their freedom...
